From my previous post, I'm pretty sure that you already know how much I love Maroon 5.
Well, Maroon 5 is an American Pop-Rock Band from Los Angeles, California. Haven't heard any Maroon 5's song? How could you...

I started to love Maroon 5 when I was a 10th grader.
One Night, I was listening to 99ers Radio Bandung and Maroon 5's song titled Better That We Break were airing that time. I suddenly fell in love with that song. Because of curiousity, I downloaded some of Maroon 5's song and... Maybe you've know what happened next. Yes!!!!!! I'm officially in love with 'em! I love how their song sounds and I love the way Adam sing. Just.. Wow!
Adam is their lead vocalist, Adam Noah Levine. He is a Jew :-( but I still love him! He is so.. He is so.. He is.. I just can't find the perfect word to describe him. HOT! That! He is so damn sexy, not just his look but also his voice. He has a lot of tatto all over his body and I like his tiger so much. Rawr. From his tweets, @adamlevine, I saw that he has good sense of humor. Who doesn't love a guy with good sense of humor??!?!?! Adam Levine is just too beautiful to be true.
I ain't a good fans actually because I still don't have one of their album. So sad. Doesn't mean I don't want to buy one of their but I think I still have a lot of priority to be filled and I shouldn't be wasteful.

I looove Hands All Over album because they sound more mature. Just love it! So love it! You guys really have to listen all of the songs inside of it, you'll love it too, absolutely.

What I like from Maroon 5 is they are different. Different? Which side? All. Their lyrics, their song, their style, their vocalist voice, etc. But different in a good way, of course.

Speechless. I'm so in love with Maroon 5 till idk what I have to say. Just open my heart and you'll know how muuuch I love Maroon 5.

Maroon 5 Bio by Mickey Madden

Adam and Jesse and I started playing music together in junior high, under the sway of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and their ilk. We generally played in Jesse’s garage in Malibu or David Richman’s basement in Brentwood. A few players came and went, most notably Adam Salzman, Amy Wood, and Jesse Nicita, until finally we scored Ryan Dusick as our drummer in 1994 and the unfortunately-monikered Kara’s Flowers was born. We considered Ryan’s membership quite a coup, as he was older by a couple years and one of the best musicians at our school. Ryan had also been writing music, and his collaborations with Adam made up the core of our material at the time, which is best described as “heavy” and “brooding”. The lyrics could be characterized as “nonsense”. After a year or so of this, our tastes were changing, as they so often do at that tender age, and we entered a phase of massive, obsessive Beatlemania that culminated in some ill-advised matching suits and big, bright pop songs with loud guitars. These are the songs that got us signed to Warner Brothers and to a fancy Hollywood management company. We made a record, hemorrhaged money, went on a couple really weird tours, and sold about a thousand records. The following couple years were spent regrouping, reshuffling, writing songs in the vein of “classic rock” and folk, and coming dangerously close to throwing in the towel. Adam and Jesse went on their Long Island adventure, driving cross-country at a breakneck pace and spending a semester at Five Towns College, purportedly studying music but mostly coming up with colorful nicknames for their classmates and listening to soul, gospel, R & B, and hip-hop. So, in fine Kara’s Flowers fashion, we abandoned the songs that we’d been playing for the prior year and started fresh upon Adam and Jesse’s return. Around this time the songs that ended up on Songs About Jane began to be written, and over the following year or so we’d written about half the record and recorded the demos that eventually got us signed yet again, this time to a plucky young upstart label called Octone, which was attached to the plucky young upstart behemoth J Records, which was in turn attached to the not-so-young, leviathan, venerated BMG. James had moved from Nebraska to LA around the time that we recorded those demos, and we met him and his bandmates in Square through mutual friends. So when we needed a guitar tech for those sessions, we called in James for his expertise in string-changing and guitar-tuning. When we needed another guitarist, as Jesse was making the transition from six strings to eighty-eight, we called in James for his expertise at actually playing the guitar. With the addition of a new member and a fresh spate of songwriting, we changed our name to Maroon 5 to solidify the feeling that we were beginning anew. As to the origin of the name, it’s a secret, and aside from the five of us only Billy Joel knows its provenance (true story). We then wrote Songs About Jane, recorded it in LA with Matt Wallace producing and Mike Landolt engineering, ate a lot of fast food and a lot of prescription speed, finished the record, totally thought we’d missed the mark, put it out, played a release party at Tower Records Sunset (R.I.P.) on January 25, 2002, went on tour, had a blast, played Starkville, MI a few times, reconfigured the seating in vans to accommodate us more comfortably, traveled in one very inhospitable RV that smelt of piss, looked in awe upon our first bus, met the Boss and Jay-Z within five minutes of each other, went platinum on our tenth anniversary as a band, kept touring, won a Grammy (!), made a lot of friends along the way, wrote a new song here and there, won another Grammy (wtf), opened for the Stones, saw a lot of the western world and a bit of the eastern, and toured some more. Sadly, the accumulated physical strain the travel and the shows really did a number on Ryan, and he hurt his arm so badly that he had to stop performing. For some time, we imagined this to be temporary, but the months came and and went and no reasonable diagnosis was made as to his ailment. Matt Flynn came in at the last minute and saved our asses in a time of need, having, over the course of a couple nights, learned the drum parts on our record inside and out. He ended up touring with us until we finally hung up our “on-the-road” boots and put on the recording ones. After a year and a half playing with Matt, and with Ryan’s condition still hindering him, we faced the most brutal decision we had yet to encounter. So we moved into a new phase with Matt officially in the band, and thankfully he, by being a monstrously great player and a generally great guy, made the transition much easier for us than it could have been. After taking about a month off following our last few shows, we moved into the Houdini mansion in Laurel Canyon to write our next record. James and Jesse actually lived in the house, as the rest of us came and went daily, recording jams, building songs, and releasing the pent-up creativity that had amassed over years of playing the same batch of songs nightly. Jason Lader, an old friend who had engineered the demos of This Love and Harder to Breathe, was our comrade and co-producer on these sessions. That house has a few claims to fame, most notably that it is “haunted”, that it was home to the sessions for Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and that the board in the control room is the hallowed Hit Factory board on which Songs in the Key of Life, Born in the USA, Double Fantasy, and Emotional Rescue were recorded (along with countless other classics). The bulk of what would become our second record was written and demoed over the few months that we worked in Laurel Canyon. We began to cast about for producers, and after consideration we assembled the team of Mike Elizondo and “Spike” Stent, two totally brilliant guys who happen to be a pleasure to work with too. (By the way, if you look closely at the string section during the G’n’R performance of “November Rain” at the ‘92 VMA’s, you’ll see a 19 year old Elizondo playing double bass.) We spent a couple months at Conway Studios, a sentimental favorite of ours (and home to those sessions that got us signed to Octone), where we recorded the bulk of the record. After a short break, we regrouped in Burbank and finished phase one of the recording. For a few months, we sat with what we had recorded thus far, listening ad nauseum and eventually realizing that there were a few musical loose ends to be tied up. so we went in for two additional sessions, with Eric Valentine and Mark Endert, respectively, for fresh perspectives and fresh ears. Those sessions yielded “Can’t Stop”, “Makes Me Wonder”, “A Little of Your Time”, and “Back at Your Door”, along with some other odds and ends applied to previously recorded songs. The whole of the three distinct sessions became It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, and even before the release of the record (in May 2007), our touring life had kicked back into gear all over again. We spent almost two years on the road in support of the album. In 2008, we visited every continent on the globe barring Antarctica; we played in dozens of cities that hadn’t been on the SAJ tour itinerary, such as Capetown, Manila, Seoul, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Bordeaux, and Moscow (to list a mere handful of favorites). Following that particularly mind-bending year of travel, we regrouped in Los Feliz, east of Hollywood, to spend some much needed time at home writing and attempting some semblance of domesticity and normality. Just as some new songs were starting to take shape, it came to our attention that Mutt Lange had expressed some interest in meeting us and discussing a possible collaboration. After the initial round of pinching ourselves out of sheer disbelief and googling Mr. Lange’s name to marvel at his unparalleled track record of musical success extending far beyond the boundaries of genre and era, we were lucky enough to sit down with the man himself in an informal meeting. Having heard the myriad stories of Mutt’s obsessive attention to detail and exacting perfectionism, and knowing just how fiercely he has protected his privacy over the years in order to maintain an essentially non-existent public image, we were unsure of what (or who) to expect from our meeting and more than a little intrigued. What none of us had anticipated was the extraordinarily warm, affable, low-key guy who arrived, professing an admiration for the band and a very humble desire for genuine collaboration to best realize the songs in recorded form. His kind demeanor only made it easier for us to arrive at the conclusion (essentially a foregone one, from the moment Mutt had expressed interest in producing our music) that he was the man for the job. We decamped to Switzerland and to Mutt’s studio there, where we spent the better part of July, August and September recording the music that has become Hands All Over. Leaving our hometown to record was one of the better decisions the band has made; we found ourselves working seven day weeks, often up to 12 hours a day, isolated as we were from the outside world. The sheer beauty and pace of our Swiss environs made it easy to clear our heads if we hit a creative wall; in many ways, it is an ideal creative environment (Bowie, Nabokov, Freddie Mercury, Chaplin, and countless other luminaries all spent considerable time in that part of the world, and after spending the summer working there I easily see why). After so much sort of “short-term” traveling, during which we rarely experience a foreign city for more than a day or two at a time, to live in that tiny Swiss town for three months was a genuine privilege. It was also a privilege to work with Mutt and begin to understand why he has been so exceptional; while most producers have one area of expertise or a few areas of focus, Mutt excels as a musician, a singer, an arranger and a writer, yet he devotes as much time to sonic, technical, and engineering concerns as he does to purely musical ones (alongside the indispensable engineer and ProTools operator Olle Romo, the world’s most patient and focused man, as well as being a great musician in his own right). I can speak for the band, as we find ourselves on the verge of releasing this closely-guarded music to the world, in saying that we are more proud of this record that any other, and as we start to dig into these songs at rehearsals, in anticipation of presenting them live, the excitement grows daily. 15. Franz Joseph Haydn

Franz Joseph Haydn (31 Maret atau 1 April 1732 – 31 Mei 1809) adalah salah seorang komponis yang paling berpengaruh dari Zaman Klasik yang dijuluki "Bapak Simfoni" atau "Bapak Kuartet Gesek". Haydn menghabiskan sebagian besar karirnya sebagai musikus untuk keluarga Eszterházy di kediaman mereka yang sulit dijangkau di Austria. Terisolasi dari komponis-komponis lain dan tren musik sampai saat menjelang akhir hayatnya, ia dipaksa untuk, menggunakan istilahnya, "menjadi orisinil".
Joseph Haydn adalah saudara laki-laki Michael Haydn, seorang komponis terkenal, dan Johann Evangelist Haydn, seorang penyanyi tenor.

14. George Frederick Handel

George Frideric Handel (23 Februari 1685 - 14 April 1759) adalah seorang Jerman-Inggris komposer Baroque, yang terkenal karena opera, oratorio, dan konser grossi. 12 Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (7 Mei 1840 [KJ: 25 April] - 6 November 1893 [OS Oktober 25]), adalah seorang komponis Rusia dari zaman Romantic. Tchaikovsky menulis musik di berbagai genre, termasuk simfoni, opera, balet, instrumental, ruang dan lagu. Dia menulis beberapa yang paling populer dan teater konser musik dalam repertoar klasik saat ini, termasuk balet Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty dan The Nutkracker, yang 1812 Overture, Pertama-nya Piano Concerto, tujuh simfoni, dan opera Eugene Onegin.

11. Gustav Mahler

8. Franz Liszt

Franz Liszt (October 22, 1811 – July 31, 1886) adalah seorang Hungarian composer, virtuoso pianist dan guru.

7. Frédéric Chopin

Ia masih berumur tujuh tahun ketika salah satu dari polonaise-nya diterbitkan (Mc Neill, 1998) namun, sumber lain mengatakan bahwa karya pertama yang diterbitakan adalah sebuah Rondo (Op. 1) pada saat ia berumur limabelas. Pada umur delapan, dia tampil di publik memainkan piano konserto milik Gywortez. Chopin mendapat pendidikan musik pertamanya oleh pianis Bohemia Adalbert Żiwny.

6. Robert Schumann

Robert Schumann (Zwickau, 8 Juni 1810–Bonn, 29 Juli 1856) adalah seorang penggubah dan pianis Jerman. Dia dianggap sebagai salah satu dari komponis musik Romantik Eropa yang terpenting, serta seorang kritikus musik yang terkenal dalam sejarah. Seorang cendekiawan serta bersifat estetikus, musiknya menggambarkan sifat romantisme yang sangat pribadi. Mawas diri dan sering bertingkah, karya-karya musik pertamanya merupakan percobaan untuk melepaskan diri dari tradisi bentuk dan struktur klasik yang dia pikir terlalu membatasi.

5. Franz Schubert

Franz Schubert (31 Januari 1797-19 November 1828) adalah komponis berkebangsaan Austria.
Ketika ia berusia lima tahun, ayahnya sudah mengajarkannya berbagai hal tentang musik. Enam tahun kemudia ia masuk sekolah musik yang sangat terkenal di Wina. Sementara itu Franz sudah mulai menggubah karya musik. Lagunya yang pertama dihasilkan pada usia 17 tahun, berjudul Gretchen at the spinning whell. Untuk sementara ia menjadi guru sekolah, tetapi kemudian ia berhenti karena ia perlu banyak waktu untuk menulis karya musik. Untuk membiayai hidup sehar-hari ia memberikan les piano. Kadang-kadang ia menulis delapan lagu per hari. Bahkan ia tidur tanpa melepas kacamata nya supaya ia dapat langsung menulis jika ia terbangun di tengah malam dengan ide sebuah lagu. Sebelum berusia 20 tahun, ia telah menulis enam simponi. Secara keseluruhan ia telah menghasilkan sembilan simponi. Dua diantaranya sangat terkenal adalah Symphony No. 8 in B minor(simponi nomor 8 dalam nada B minor) yang dikenal dengan judul Unfinished Symphony dan Symphony No. 9 in C minor yang dikenal dengan judul Great Symphony karena begitu panjang. Karya-karya Schubert meliputi karya-karya musik dalam berbagai bentuk untuk orkes dengan ukuran yang berbeda-beda. Ia telah menulis 100 lagu. Diantaranya yang sampai sekarang diangap paling baik, yaitu Ave Maria, Who is Sylvia?, The Trout, dan Serenade. Franz Schubert meninggal pada usia 31 tahun, tetapi ia sudah menghasilkan hampir 1.000 karya musik.

4. Richard Wagner

Wilhelm Richard Wagner (22 Mei 1813 – 13 Februari 1883) adalah seorang komponis berpengaruh Jerman, pakar teori musik, dan penulis, namun paling terkenal melalui karya operanya. Musiknya masih sering dimainkan, yang paling terkenal adalah "Ride of the Valkyries" dari Die Walküre dan "Bridal Chorus" dari Lohengrin. Wagner juga merupakan seorang tokoh yang sangat kontroversial, karena inovasi musik dan inovasi dramanya dan juga karena dia adalah seorang pendukung pemikiran-pemikiran anti-semitisme. 3. Ludwig van Beethoven

Karyanya yang terkenal adalah simfoni kelima dan kesembilan, dan juga lagu piano Für Elise. Ia dipandang sebagai salah satu komponis yang terbesar dan merupakan tokoh penting dalam masa peralihan antara Zaman Klasik dan Zaman Romantik. Semasa muda, ia adalah pianis yang berbakat, populer di antara orang-orang penting dan kaya di Wina, Austria, tempatnya tinggal. Namun, pada tahun 1801, ia mulai menjadi tuli.
Ketuliannya semakin parah dan pada 1817 ia menjadi tuli sepenuhnya. Meskipun ia tak lagi bisa bermain dalam konser, ia terus mencipta musik, dan pada masa ini mencipta sebagian karya-karyanya yang terbesar. Ia menjalani sisa hidupnya di Wina dan tak pernah menikah.

2. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (lahir di Salzburg, 27 Januari 1756 – meninggal di Wina, Austria, 5 Desember 1791 pada umur 35 tahun) adalah seorang komponis. Ia dianggap sebagai salah satu dari komponis musik klasik Eropa yang terpenting dan paling terkenal dalam sejarah. Karya-karyanya (sekitar 700 lagu) termasuk gubahan-gubahan yang secara luas diakui sebagai puncak karya musik simfoni, musik kamar, musik piano, musik opera, dan musik paduan suara. Contoh karyanya adalah opera Don Giovanni dan Die Zauberflöte. Banyak dari karya Mozart dianggap sebagai repertoar standar konser klasik dan diakui sebagai mahakarya musik zaman klasik. Miley Ray Cyrus^[2] (born Destiny Hope Cyrus^[3]^[4] on November 23, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Cyrus rose to fame starring as the title character in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. Following the success of Hannah Montana, in October 2006, a soundtrack CD was released on which she sang eight songs from the show. Cyrus's solo music career began with the release of her debut album, Meet Miley Cyrus on June 23, 2007, which included her first top ten single "See You Again". Her second album, Breakout, was released on July 22, 2008. Breakout is Cyrus's first album that does not involve the Hannah Montana franchise. Both albums debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.^[5] Cyrus's first extended play, The Time of Our Lives, was released on August 28, 2009. Early life

Cyrus was born in Nashville, Tennessee on November 23, 1992^[9] to Leticia "Tish" (née Finley) and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.^[3] Cyrus has five siblings. Her elder siblings Trace and Brandi Cyrus are Tish's children from a previous relationship, whom Billy Ray adopted when they were very young.^[10] Trace is a vocalist and guitarist for the electronic pop band Metro Station,^[11] while Brandi has played guitar for Cyrus's concerts and formed a band with The Secret Life of the American Teenager star Megan Park.^[12] Cyrus also has an older half-brother, Christopher Cody, from her father's previous relationship,^[13] as well as a younger brother, Braison, and a younger sister, Noah, who is also an actress.^[13] She is the granddaughter of Democratic politician Ron Cyrus. Cyrus chose the name "Ronnie" for her character in the 2010 film The Last Song in honor of her grandfather.^[14]

Career

2001–2005: Early work

Cyrus became interested in acting when she was nine, and took classes at the Armstrong Acting Studio while her family lived in Toronto, Canada.^[21] Her early career was marked by minor roles, the first of which was playing a girl named Kylie on her father's television series Doc.^[4]^[22] In 2003, Cyrus was credited under her birth name for her role as "Young Ruthie" in Tim Burton's Big Fish. Dolly Parton, Miley's godmother,^[23] advised Cyrus's mother to sign Cyrus with Morey Management Group, which The Hollywood Reporter said "was the best advice she could [have gotten] on who should rep her daughter". The group's leader, Jim Morey, and his son, Jason, began co-managing Cyrus's career alongside Tish Cyrus.^[24]

When Cyrus was twelve, she auditioned for the role of "best friend" in a Disney Channel television show about a "secret pop star".^[25] Disney Channel executives at first judged her to be too young, but Cyrus's persistence resulted in her being called back for further auditions. She eventually auditioned for the lead role, Zoe Stewart. When she won the role, the character's name was changed to Miley Stewart. 2006 – June 2008: Hannah Montana

Hannah Montana first aired on March 24, 2006 in the United States and averaged more than 4 million viewers per episode. As of 2009, the series is in its third season on Disney Channel with plans for a fourth and final season in 2010.^[28]

As the star of Hannah Montana, Cyrus became popular with children and teenagers, leading to a successful career in music. Her recording debut was on April 4, 2006, when the fourth edition of DisneyMania was released. Cyrus sang a cover of James Baskett's "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah," originally from the 1946 animated film Song of the South. On October 24 the same year, Walt Disney Records released the first Hannah Montana soundtrack. Of the nine tracks on the album performed by Cyrus, eight were credited to Hannah Montana and one, a duet with Billy Ray Cyrus titled "I Learned from You", was credited to Cyrus as herself. Cyrus's first headlining tour, the Best of Both Worlds Tour, lasted from October 18, 2007 to January 31, 2008 with 69 concerts across the United States. She performed both as herself and as Hannah Montana. The Jonas Brothers were the opening act for most of the tour.^[33] Tour tickets for each date sold out in record time.^[34] The tour was recorded and released to theaters as a concert film in Disney Digital 3-D. Walt Disney Records/Hollywood Records released the film's soundtrack on March 11, 2008. It peaked at number three on the Billboard 200.^[35]

July 2008–present: Breakout, The Time of Our Lives EP and film career

On July 2008, Cyrus released her second studio album under her own name, entitled Breakout. Cyrus said Breakout was inspired by "what's been going on in my life in the past year."^[36] Cyrus co-wrote eight out of twelve songs on the album.^[36] "Songwriting is what I really want to do with my life forever, [...] I just hope this record showcases that, more than anything, I'm a writer."^[37] The album debuted at #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with a first week sales of about 371,000 copies. As of July 31, 2008, this was the second-biggest sales week of the year for a female artist; Mariah Carey's E=MC² previously sold 463,000 copies in its first week.^[5] "7 Things" was the first single to be released from Breakout and peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.^[38]^[39] She hosted the 2008 CMT Music Awards with her father in April.^[40] In 2008, Cyrus hosted the Teen Choice Awards.^[41]

Cyrus provided the voice of Penny in the 2008 computer-animated feature film, Bolt, about a television star dog on his quest to find his owner. Cyrus co-wrote and recorded one of the two original songs on the soundtrack of Bolt, which features her Bolt co-star John Travolta. Titled "I Thought I Lost You", it was later nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.^[42] Cyrus again played the title role in the Hannah Montana film spin-off, Hannah Montana: The Movie which was released on April 10, 2009. The film is about Stewart returning to her country roots and deciding which life to choose, her own normal life or as pop star Hannah Montana. In June 2009, Cyrus changed her TV and movie career representation from United Talent Agency to Creative Artists Agency, which had already represented her for music.^[44] Also in June, Cyrus began filming her upcoming movie The Last Song, based on a novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks, in which she plays a rebellious teenage girl who spends a summer with her estranged father at his home in a quiet beach town.^[45] The film was conceived as a "star vehicle" with the intention of introducing Cyrus to older audiences.^[46] Cyrus recorded a song with the Jonas Brothers titled "Before the Storm" for their fourth studio album Lines, Vines and Trying Times. "Party in the U.S.A." was officially released to radio on July 29, 2009.^[47] The song is from a Wal-Mart exclusive EP entitled The Time of Our Lives which released on August 31, 2009.^[48] It was released as promotion for Cyrus's clothing line. The song made it to number one on Hot Digital Songs with 226,000 paid downloads, making her the youngest artist to top the chart, which led its big debut on the Billboard Hot 100, where it was placed at number two, topping "The Climb" (that peaked at number four).^[39]^[49] The song thereby became the "fastest breaking single in Hollywood Records' history."^[50]

Cyrus announced her 2009 North American Tour. The tour began on September 14, 2009 in Portland, Oregon and spanned 45 dates across North America. Eventually, additional dates were announced for the United Kingdom making the tour change names to the Wonder World Tour. Cyrus became a spokesperson for Daisy Rock Guitars in 2004, when she was presented with her first Daisy Rock guitar — the Stardust Series Acoustic Electric Pink Sparkle.^[57] Disney released a Hannah Montana clothing collection in late summer 2007. Cyrus helped to design some of the pieces from the collection.^[58] In December 2007, she was ranked #17 in the list of Forbes Top Twenty Superstar Earners under 25 with an annual earning of US$3.5 million.^[59] A wax figure of Cyrus was unveiled at Madame Tussauds in New York City.^[60] In April 2008, Cyrus signed a contract to pen an autobiography reflecting on her life up to the age of 16. The memoir, called Miles To Go (ISBN 978-1-42-311992-0) was written with Hilary Liftin^[61] and was published by Disney-Hyperion Books in March 2009. The memoir discusses Cyrus's relationship with her father, her thoughts on the media, her love life, her future ambitions and milestones she still has to reach in her life.^[62] Miles to Go reached #1 on the New York Times children’s best seller list.^[63] An initial printing run of one million copies of Miles to Go is planned.^[64]

In August 2009, Cyrus teamed with Max Azria to create a line of junior and girls' separates available only at Walmart.^[65] Cyrus's released her EP The Time of Our Lives in conjunction with the line and Walmart dedicated a page to the designers.^[66] The line consists of vests, tie-dye tank tops, dresses, and plaids. Critics claimed the clothes were "completely inoffensive but totally snoozeworthy"^[67] and "benign",^[65] but admitted that "it's the generic that sells, regardless of whether it has Hannah Montana's name on it" and predicted they would be high sellers.^[65]

Philanthropy

Cyrus celebrated her 16th birthday with a charity fundraiser at Disneyland, which was closed early for the event attended by 5,000 fans at $250 per ticket.^[68] The proceeds went to the charity Youth Service America, a youth volunteering organization.^[69]^[70]^[71] Ten outstanding youth volunteers from Youth Service America were invited to attend,^[72] and later in the evening, Cyrus presented a $1 million check to the organization.^[73] In 2007, Cyrus made a large contribution to the City of Hope, giving $1 for every "Hannah Montana" concert ticket sold. She said that "the cool thing about being a part of City of Hope is that they are a cancer research center. They're not only helping kids that are there, but also finding out how they can heal them by figuring out what exactly is going on, which is amazing."^[74]

Cyrus has lent her musical talents to several charity benefits. Cyrus collaborated with fourteen other female singers to record a charity single titled "Just Stand Up!", which the singers performed live during a one-hour primetime event for the anti-cancer campaign Stand Up to Cancer on September 5, 2008.^[75] On September 14, 2008, Cyrus, along with other performers, performed at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California for the City of Hope Benefit Concert to help raise money for cancer research and training programs.^[76]

Cyrus is involved in Disney's Friends for Change, an organization which promotes environmentally friendly behavior, and appears in the service's public service announcements to raise awareness for the cause on the Disney Channel.^[77] In addition, she joined fellow Disney stars Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and the Jonas Brothers, to record "Send It On", a charity single which serves as the theme song for Disney's Friends for Change. "Send it On" debuted on the Hot 100 at number twenty.^[78]^[79] Disney will direct 100% of the proceeds from "Send it On" to environmental charities through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF).^[78]

Cyrus suffers from a mild form of a heart condition called tachycardia. In her autobiography, Miles to Go, Cyrus writes, "There is never a time onstage when I'm not thinking about my heart".^[80] In January 2008, Cyrus announced her intent to officially change her name to "Miley Ray Cyrus," her middle name reflecting that of her father.^[81] The name change became official on May 1, 2008.^[2] In an interview with USA Today, Cyrus was quoted as saying her faith is "the main thing" and is the reason why she works in Hollywood.^[82] When interviewed by Parade, she added that she attends church regularly with her family.^[27] In an interview with Christianity Today, Billy Ray Cyrus said, "Being Christian, we believe in heaven," and "We also had a great church, and when you give up your church, your pastor, and the community you are involved in, you're making a big sacrifice. Let's face it, Hollywood is a completely different environment than Franklin, Tennessee."^[83]

In February 2008, Cyrus and her friend Mandy Jiroux (who is also a backup dancer for Cyrus) began creating videos on YouTube called The Miley and Mandy Show. The show, described as a "YouTube hit," is said to be filmed for fun by Cyrus and Jiroux and to be entirely their work, with Cyrus and Jiroux editing the footage together. It is filmed mainly in Cyrus's bedroom.^[84] Cyrus was also popular on the social networking site Twitter; her site was watched by approximately 2 million Twitter users in addition to the general public when she deleted it on October 8, 2009.^[85]^[86] In the September 2008 issue of Seventeen, Cyrus stated she had been in a relationship with Nick Jonas for two years, and that they "were in love". Controversies

Vanity Fair photos

On April 25, 2008, the televised entertainment program Entertainment Tonight reported that Cyrus had posed topless for a photoshoot with Vanity Fair.^[89] The photo, and subsequently released behind-the-scenes photos, show Cyrus with her bare back exposed but her front covered with a bedsheet. The photoshoot was taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz.^[90] The full photograph was published with an accompanying story on The New York Times' website on April 27, 2008. On April 29, 2008, The New York Times clarified that though the pictures left an impression that she was bare-breasted, Cyrus was wrapped in a bedsheet and was actually not topless.^[91] Some parents expressed outrage at the nature of the photograph, which a Disney spokesperson described as "a situation [that] was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines." Gary Marsh, president of entertainment for Disney Channel Worldwide, was quoted by Portfolio magazine to have said, “For Miley Cyrus to be a ‘good girl’ is now a business decision for her. Parents have invested in her a godliness. If she violates that trust, she won’t get it back.”^[91] Branding consultants John Tantillo and Michael Stone appeared on Fox Business News to discuss possible repercussions for Cyrus's brand and her best marketing strategy going forward.^[92]

In response to the Internet circulation of the photo and ensuing media attention, Cyrus released a statement of apology on April 27, 2008: "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."^[91] Leibovitz also released a statement: "I'm sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted. The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful."^[91]^[93] On April 28, 2008, Vanity Fair published their full interview and photo shoot with Cyrus and her father Billy Ray Cyrus, as well as the behind-the-scenes photographs, on their website.^[94] According to the interview, Cyrus's parents or minders were present during the entire duration of the photo shoot. The idea to pose with the sheets on was suggested by Leibovitz. When asked if she was "anxious" about the pose, Cyrus stated to interviewer Bruce Handy: "No, I mean I had a big blanket on. And I thought, this looks pretty, and really natural. I think it's really artsy. It wasn't in a skanky way.... And you can't say no to Annie. She's so cute. She gets this puppy-dog look and you're like, okay."^[94] On December 2, 2008, TV Guide reported that Cyrus is interested in working with Leibovitz again in the future and is even considering a career in photography for herself, "That's what I want to do with my life. I would love to be a photographer... I want to come to London to study. I hear there are some great art schools here so I would love to do that."^[95]

2009 Teen Choice Awards performance

During her Wonder World Tour, Cyrus replaced the ice-cream push-cart she used in her 2009 Teen Choice Awards performance with a luggage cart due to claims the push-cart had a dance pole attached.

Cyrus's performance of "Party in the U.S.A." at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards on August 10 incited controversy.^[96]^[97]^[98] Critics of the performance complained that she danced provocatively alongside a dance pole that was on top of an ice-cream pushcart, and that another part of the performance seemed to poke fun at American culture.^[97]^[98]^[99]^[100] Some drew negative comparisons to Britney Spears, though Cyrus herself welcomed comparisons to the former teen pop star.^[99]^[101] Others defended Cyrus, arguing that still images of the performance made it seem more lewd than it actually was, and opining that the ensuing controversy took the focus away from the six awards she won that night.^[102] Others observed that Cyrus already had a risque image, and sought to broaden her appeal to audiences, with the performance a part of her transition into an entertainer for older audiences, much as had been observed years earlier with Britney Spears.^[103] Cyrus's label, Hollywood Records, and The Walt Disney Company, which produces Hannah Montana, offered no comment on the performance, though Disney asserted that all performances on the Disney Channel are appropriate for children age 6 – 14.^[104]^[105] The Fox Network, which broadcast the awards, also offered no comment, other than to confirm that the performance would be included in its broadcast of the ceremony.^[103]
